RE: Confederate C120 Renaissance Fighter

I dunno...I can see pieces shaking and rattling off with the first burst of power......and that seat...how the hell you supposed to hang on if yer butt is dangling off the end of the bike...heck no...not even dangling....you'd be getting butt burns as slide onto the rear tire...only a maniac with a death wish would want to ride that thang..... So when's your test ride? :C

That is a two seater set up. OUCH!

RE: Confederate C120 Renaissance Fighter

Looks like one of those sculptures someone built from spare wristwatch parts and disgarded silverware. Either that - or someone has gotten very creative with an Erector Set.

RE: Power Commander USB III Fuel Mileage

Not an Ultra, but close. I have an '05 Road King Classic with 10,000 and change miles on it. It has a Harley Stage I air cleaner, Screamin Eagle slip ons and True Duals. There's Syn 3 in all 3 holes, and I've never used anything but BP (Amoco) 93 octane premium in it. I don't ride what I would call "hard" but I'm certainly no pansy either. Highway mileage is 47.5. City mileage is 42. And just as a point of information...................... The only time I put the windshield on is during Love Bug season (it's a Florida thing for all you non- Sunshine Staters) and my highway mileage drops off right at .5 mpg with the windshield on. P.S. Those figures are for solo riding. I figure I probably lose about .5 on the highway and 1 mpg haulin my lady around (she's a little thing). I weigh 198, btw - weight does make a difference.

RE: Battery...where??

Good question, pc. I also have a 2005 Road King Classic with the original battery. I realize 3 years is about it for a battery, and I've been wondering what my options might be when it comes time to replace it. Waiting for the responses.

RE: Disc Brake Pads

I have an 08' FLHRC and want to get Lyndall Z-Plus brake pads. Where can I get them in Ohio? Or can I order them somewhere? Tommy Tune's right. I bought mine off the Internet. Google 'em (you'll find a number of sources) and then just go for the best price.

RE: Would you buy a Harley from a foreign-owned MoCo?

Wow - scary question. I've been a devoted Harley rider for many, many years, and that's not likely to change for ANY reason. So yeah, I guess if the Motor Company suddenly became foreign owned, I'd still buy from them.

RE: What's wrong with my bike?

You say the bike sits with a charger on it when not in use. Do you mean a regular battery charger (trickle or otherwise) - or a Battery Tender? If you always have it hooked to a regular battery charger, that's probably your problem. Most battery chargers don't quit charging when the battey is fully charged. All they do is keep cooking the battery until it's a useless black box. It's like trying to force more water into a balloon after the balloon has reached capacity. A Battery Tender, on the other hand, will sense the battery's state of charge and stop charging when the battery is at full charge - and then turn on again only as needed.

RE: Disc Brake Pads

Well, I know it's been a LONG time since I started this post and asked my question, but there was a method to my madness. I was waiting until my Road King was ready for the 10,000-mile service so I could have the dealer change the pads for me during the service. All I can say is, WOW! Thanks to all of you who recommended the Lyndall "Z" pads. The bike has NEVER stopped so well (including in the rain), they're silent, and disc brake dust seems to be a thing of the past. Only time will tell what effect the "Z" pads may have on the rotors, and what kind of mileage I'll get out of them, but so far - I'm a believer. Thanks again for the recommendation.

RE: Thunder In The Valley

Hawg Man Just got back from the Doc. He said he did not think I would be able to ride for another two months. There goes my summer! Does not look good for TITV rally. kpapa Get the hell well. There's always next year.

RE: Thunder In The Valley

I have a family reunion as well as some legal matters I have to attend to while I'm up there, so I'll no doubt be there at least a week. Let me know if you're planning to attend and we'll discuss it.

RE: Thunder In The Valley

Hawg Man Where in Pennsylvania and when in June? Been cooped up here all spring. Maybe I will be able to ride by then. kpapa Johnstown, PA - about equa-distance between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. Google Thunder In The Valley. They have a GREAT website. This is the 10th Anniversary, so it should be quite a bash.

Thunder In The Valley

Anyone headed to Pennsylvania next month for the TITV rally? If so, give me an e-mail address and maybe we can make arrangements to hook up for a cold root beer.

RE: mpg???

I agree, the a/f ratio is out of whack. Wonder if they just slapped the racetuner on without any setup? Just pull in front of someone on the road and look in the rear view. If they're wiping their eyes and coughing up a lung, you might be running rich. LOL Kinda reminds me of back in the day when we had a couple guys with 3-cylinder, 2-stroke Kawasakis that rode with our group. We ALWAYS made them ride in the rear. Otherwise - we would all get so much oil covering our glasses we couldn't see after about 2 or 3 miles. True story.

RE: mpg???

Was the bike dynoed after the installs? That might help. Unfortunately the lean condition and the high heat go hand in hand. Better airflow through the engine requires more fuel to keep the stoichiometry in the proper range. This is accompanied by the increase in hp/torque usually. I agree with King of the Road - but only to a point. If the gas mileage has dropped nearly 50%, then that would mean the amount of fuel going through the engine has INCREASED by roughly 50%. Right? Would that then mean the engine is ingesting and moving 50% more air? And would it then follow that it's making 50% more horsepower? I seriously doubt either one applies. Have someone ride close behind you and see if they can smell what appears to be an over-rich exhaust. I won't attempt a guess at exactly what the problem is, but that much of a difference in mpg tells me there's something else going on. Have you pulled the plugs to look at the color? My '05 Road King has a Stage 1 Kit, SE slip on mufflers and a True Dual kit. I get 45-46 mpg. It USED to run hot with the Stage 1 and SEs - but it has cooled down significantly since installing the True Duals, even though the True Duals don't seem to have made a measureable difference in the mpg.

RE: slip on mufflers

Hey! thanks I hope your not wrong, the bike sounds great just siting in the garage running, waiting for warm weather to check it out on the road,if too loud I'll put the stock ones back on. would like to hear from any one else on this matter. Cheers bob Bob, I'm sure you've heard it before, but.................. "An engine is nothing more than an air pump". That means the more air you can get into it - the more air you can get through it - the more air you can get out of it - the better it's going to run. Doesen't matter if it's a Top Fuel dragster, a Briggs & Stratton lawn mower, or your Harley. The principal is the same. You've taken the first step of providing the engine with a better means for getting rid of air, so you WILL notice a difference. Adding the Stage I kit will help get more air into the engine, and you'll no doubt feel a difference if you do that as well. Then, it's just a matter of having the computer re-flashed to allow the new mods to work properly. Re-flashing the computer will adjust the fuel and advance curves to compensate for the increased air flow. The Stage I kit is pretty pricey. A K&N filter is cheaper. The Stage I kit comes with a K&N filter. Do the math.

RE: Exhaust-ing...

Anybody got a pic of how a 2 into 1 looks on a dresser from the rear? Just imagine looking down on a Kenworth or Peterbilt from the roof of a building. LOL Sorry guys - the devil made me say it. :B
